THE FAIRDALE TORNADO

SMALL TOWN STRONG

On the evening of April 9, 2015, northern Illinois saw 11 tornadoes touch down, inflicting extensive damage across the region. The most severe, a category-EF4 tornado, slammed into rural Fairdale around 7 p.m., leveling part of town and damaging every structure left standing. This is the story of that fateful night, and how Fairdale’s 150 residents have banded together in a valiant effort to rebuild their beloved town.
